On February 1, ROI-EFESO Management Consulting announced that CATL’s Ningde plant has won the INDUSTRIE 4.0 AWARD in the category of Process Industry. The awards ceremony was held in Munich, Germany.

CATL’s Ningde plant has won the INDUSTRIE 4.0 AWARD for its advanced Industry 4.0 solutions. The plant was praised for its holistic approach, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability. CATL has been benchmarking its production and operation with Industry 4.0 standards, utilizing eight enabling technologies. The company operates three Lighthouse factories and has achieved carbon neutrality in four factories. This award highlights CATL’s achievements in boosting productivity and sustainability.

DiDi and CATL Form Joint Venture for Battery Swapping

On January 26, DiDi and CATL announced the establishment of a joint venture for battery swapping in Ningde City, east China’s Fujian Province. Cheng Wei, chairman and CEO of DiDi, and Robin Zeng, chairman and general manager of CATL, attended the signing ceremony.

The collaboration aims to provide efficient battery swapping services for new energy vehicles through online car-hailing platforms. This strategic partnership leverages the technical expertise and operational capabilities of both companies to enhance resource utilization and improve social operation efficiency in the public EV refueling sector.

In addition to the joint venture, CATL has also signed a letter of intent for strategic cooperation with Orange Energy, a DiDi subsidiary. This collaboration will explore opportunities in the new energy sector, including integrated energy storage and charging solutions.

Orange Energy, focusing on carbon neutrality solutions in transportation, has already provided battery charging services in over 190 cities, totaling more than 680 million charging sessions by the end of December 2023.

The joint venture between DiDi and CATL targets the public travel market, characterized by a large consumer base, high EV refueling frequency, and a need for timely refueling services.

By rapidly establishing battery-swapping stations and promoting battery-swapping vehicle models, the partnership aims to enhance the operating efficiency of the public EV refueling market and drive the green transformation of transportation.

This initiative aligns with DiDi’s commitment to vehicle sharing, carpooling, non-motorized transportation, and intelligent transportation, supporting the electrification of transportation and promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
